Event-Specific Rules

Here are the rules that apply only to this event, superseding SPARC rules
Only LiPo batteries can be used
Unsticks will be called at referee's discretion
Exposed battery is immediate knockout
Judges use the 'Damage, Control, Agression' criteria
250mph tip speed limit (beetles). See FAQ
Overture Super PLA+ is not allowed (plastic antweight)

What 3D printed plastics can I use in plastic antweight?

Only PLA, ABS, PETG, ASA, PET, and PLA+ are allowed. TPU, nylon, mixed plastics (with fiberglass, carbon fiber, etc.). PLA with abnormally strong strength properties are not allowed to keep the tournament fair for beginners: 'Overture Super PLA+' and 'Polymaker Polymax Tough PLA' are not allowed.

For plastic antweight, does EVERYTHING have to be 3D printed?

Only your chassis, weapon, and armor have to be 3D printed. You can pick your material for wheels, as long as it can't be considered armor. You can use axles, screws, and fasteners; as long as they don't strengthen the chassis. See Section 16.3

I think I found a loophole in the rules!

"Safe innovation is always encouraged, but surprising the event staff with your brilliant exploitation of a loophole may cause your robot to be disqualified before it ever competes."

How do I get a weight bonus?

Robots using unconventional drivetrains can qualify for weight bonuses. Shufflers get a 25% weight bonus, non-traditional systems get 50%, and walkers (legs) get 100%. Contact the event organizer beforehand to get your bonus approved. These systems can be tough to implement for first-timers, we recommend using wheels!

Yes, you may pin your opponents, usually by pushing them into a wall and not letting go. A pin is counted after 10 seconds, after which you must release your opponent. Pins make a good impression on the judges

What's the deal with tip speed limits?

To ensure the arena does not get damaged, beetles have a weapon tip speed limit of 250mph. This will not affect most beetles unless you are REALLY going for speed! Event organizers may ask for details on LiPo cell count, motor kv rating, pulley ratios, weapon radius, or more to determine your weapon tip speed. LiPo cells will be counted as 4.2V/cell.
